Membership FAQ

When are rehearsals?

Tuesday evenings between 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Do I need to bring my own instrument and/or music stand?

Musicians are expected to bring their own instrument and music stand for personal use during rehearsals and concert events.

What is the minimum skill level required to play in the symphony?

Musicians are expected to understand and play at an advanced high school level. Our music selections vary in difficulty and grade level each concert season. Musicians may be regularly presented with repertoire that challenges their current skill level or style of play. This allows plenty of opportunities for our musicians to continue to push the boundaries of their music abilities. The North Oregon Coast Symphony encourages and values the full participation of all skill levels within the ensemble.

What if I cannot make it to every rehearsal?

For the benefit and success of the entire symphony, all musicians are expected to regularly attend each rehearsal. An excess of unexcused absences may result in the involuntary forfeit of a musician's chair within the symphony at the sole discretion of the music director.

I am a student musician in the NOCS interested in finding out if I qualify for receipt of the Sandra Stormquist Memorial Scholarship fund. Where can I learn more about the scholarship program?

The Sandra Stormquist Memorial Scholarship is available each concert season to all student musicians within the North Oregon Coast Symphony who meet the participation and musicianship criteria as set by the music director. Please visit our Scholarships web page to learn more about the program and to fill out the application form for evaluation by the current scholarship committee.
