Sandra Stromquist Memorial Scholarship Application

String Quartet

Application Guidelines

Regular attendance at rehearsals with the North Oregon Coast Symphony is required for eligibility as a Sandra Stromquist Memorial Scholarship applicant. Applicants must have no more than two excused absences for each concert rehearsal schedule. Participation in all concerts scheduled is required. Excused absences must include notification of the section principal and the conductor. Failure to do so may jeopardize scholarship eligibility. Illnesses and emergencies will be considered and cases will be judge on an individual basis by the scholarship committee.

Scholarship applicants will be expected to have professional attitudes and to be committed to their positions in the orchestra. The conductor will keep weekly attendance records as well as records of attitudes and progress. Success as a scholarship recipient is totally the responsibility of the applicant.

All youth orchestra members are expected to participate in school music programs when such programs exist. By participating in a school music program, the student benefits by playing every day, becoming a better sight-reader, and playing an important part in helping to build meaningful music programs in their school and community. We encourage you to invest in your community through your participation in the North Oregon Coast Symphony. Your musicianship and thoughtfulness will be reciprocated by your community.

Sincerely,

NOCS Scholarship Committee
